02/15/2002 – HOMICIDE
Around 12:45 pm to 12:50 pm the store owner of the Coastal Gas Station, Subir Chatterjee, was shot to death inside his security booth at the Coastal Gas Station located at 29914 IH-45 North. This store is on the southeast corner of Woodlands Parkway/Robinson Road and IH-45. Chatterjee had run a check cashing business out of this location for years. In the homicide a large amount of cash was also taken. Two males were seen in and around the security booth for up to 40 minutes prior to the approximate time of death. One or both may have been injured in the course of the crime.
Male with the cap:
508 to 510 180 to 200 pounds stocky build olive skin 35 to early 40’s
dark colored hair YOA
This male was seen inside the booth with the victim to 40 minutes before the crime occurred. Witnesses only saw this man in a seated position so the height and weight could vary. He was clean shaven and dressed neatly in a white shirt and dark colored vest or jacket. The cap he wore is a “cabbie” style hat with his hair cut short and neat.

strawberry blond hair
This male was seen both inside and outside the booth at different times. He was seen in and around the store for up to 40 minutes before the crime occurred. His hair was longer but cut neatly and combed straight back.
Car:
Possibly a white Oldsmobile Alero, unknown year, with paper tags in the license plate holder. There may have been a third suspect driving the car. He is described as a white male, late teens or early 20’s, short with a slight build, unknown hair color.
